I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th of July. The founding fathers sealed the declaration on 4 July 1776, making the country 248 years old. Not very old by global standards but we have accomplished a lot in those 248 years. Happy birthday America.
Both patterns today have a garden theme. Both are cut from 1/4" thick plywood and painted. The rose pattern is 8" wide and the Garden Gnome is almost 11" tall.
If you love roses, you will enjoy the Keisei Rose Garden in Japan video. 1,600 different varieties of roses and 10,000 individual plants. The facility also has a restaurant, cafe, and bakery. They also have a gift shop. The garden is located just over an hour from Tokyo.
We have three rose bushes just out the basement walk-out door. I have never been super successful at gardening but roses seem to do okay for us. They grow so fast that I have trouble keeping them trimmed. Last year the middle rose bush was over 6 foot tall. The three bushes have three different colors of roses but they seem to bloom at different times. Normally only two will have flowers. I have no idea if that is something I am doing wrong or just their nature. The flowers are beautiful when they bloom.
We have been in a long heat wave here so I am watering them every day. I know that is not normally required but it has been in the 90s with little rain. Luckily, Patty's older sister and our daughter are both educated gardeners. I thank them for their helpful advice. They have saved several of our plants around the house. My green thumb is at best a dark purple.
I have added a few more games to my game menu. The Brick Breaker game is my best yet. I still have a few bugs to squash but it played really well. The main problem is that after you clear the first level the ball gets too much extra speed. That makes level 2, difficult. I'll get it squashed soon.
Believe it or not, there are still a couple hundred people playing the games daily. Some of the games are pretty decent. The Brick Breaker game would be close to commercial quality but I have no plans for that.
All of these games are built with a PC or Mac in mind. Some of them might play on a tablet or smartphone because they are browser-hosted. Most of them do require a keyboard. I used my iPad with an external keyboard to play a few of them and they played fine.
The story behind this project was simple. I am using Claude 3.5 Sonnet and ChatGPT AI to assist in the coding. Both services are a $20-a-month subscription. My intention was to use the games to help me learn the interface of these platforms. Then my plan was to use the AI to help me run the blog with utilities and coding. The whole game thing just is so much fun that I have not stopped yet.😁 I think I am up to 27 games with more already started. Whoever said that 15 hours a day of play is ridiculous was not having as much fun as me.
All kidding aside I am learning a lot. Both of these Large Language Models are good but so far ChatGPT is running away with low coding error rates. If you are going to subscribe to one I highly suggest ChatGPT. I have not tried GitHub Copilot yet but my understanding is its coding ability is good. I will try that one next.
Enjoy the games if you are so inclined. Remember that I am updating this so often that you may get the cached version if you do not press the ctrl F5 to refresh the browser cache. Click PLAY.
